Privacy Policy

Convoy is a group motorcycle ride tracking app. This page explains what information Convoy collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and how you can have it deleted.

Information we collect

• Account info — when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (Apple's "Hide My Email" is supported — if you use it, we only receive the private relay address Apple gives us).
• Profile info you add — e.g. your motorcycle/bike, if you choose to fill that in.
• Location data — while you're on an active ride, Convoy collects your precise device location so it can show your position to the other riders in your group in real time, and to build that ride's route, stops, distance and stats afterward. Location is only collected in the foreground, while a ride is actively being tracked — Convoy does not collect your location in the background or when you aren't on a ride.
• Ride & group data — the rides you create or join, who's in them, and each ride's route, stops and timing.
• Push notification token — a device token used to deliver notifications about your rides (e.g. invites, ride updates).
• Usage analytics — app usage events (e.g. a ride being created, started or completed; which screens get used) tied to your account, so we can understand how Convoy is actually used and improve it.

How we use this information

• To provide Convoy's core features — live location sharing within a ride, group coordination, invites, ride history, recaps and stats.
• To sign you in and keep your account secure.
• To send you notifications relevant to your rides.
• To understand feature usage and improve the app.

Who we share it with

• Other riders in your ride — your name, photo and live location are visible to the other participants of that specific ride, for as long as the ride is active. People not in your ride can't see this.
• Google (Firebase & Google Maps Platform) — Convoy is built on Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Hosting) and uses Google Maps / Places for maps and route lookup. These process data on our behalf under Google's Privacy Policy.

Data retention

Ride history is kept until you delete that ride (Convoy lets you delete a ride at any time) or your account. Account info is kept until you ask us to delete it — see below.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual rides directly in the app at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, see our data deletion request page.

Children

Convoy is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
